3. Lockdown Lowdown with... Sam Foulds

Sam, firstly I hope you and your family are all well. How are you coping with the current situation? How are you keeping busy?

Yes, me and my family are ok. I think everybody is struggling with the situation at the minute but to take my mind off it, I’m out running or cycling everyday. I’m still working at the minute with Sheffield Council so that’s getting me through it.

Are you missing football?

Of course! I think everyone is at the minute. I can’t wait for it all to be over and get back on the pitch scoring goals.

Due to you joining us midway through the season, and then the early finish to the season, you only made 7 appearances for the club. How did you enjoy your time with us last season?

Loved it! I started enjoying my football again and scoring goals. Hopefully there will be plenty more to come. All the lads and management have been spot on.

There was obviously the 10-1 away win at East Hull, which was your first start, where you scored five times. What was that like for you?

To be honest with you, I wasn’t in the mood to play. It was windy, cold and we started off shocking. As soon as I got the first goal though, everything just went right. That day we were class. It’s just a shame that the season is null and void so the result doesn’t stand.

Are you looking forward to trying to build on your goal scoring feats next season?

Yeah, of course. Against anyone that is put in front of us, I'll do what I can to help Ollerton climb the league.

You joined us from Dinnington, who of course missed out on promotion. What would it have meant to you to come up against them?

They went all season unbeaten and probably would have won the league so I can understand they are disappointed. East Hull finished bottom with 1 point so I do feel sorry for the teams that would have come into the league that now can’t.
It would have meant a lot to play against them. I know a lot of the lads who play there and it’s my home town so would have got some stick of the fans.

What’s your early opinion on your new teammates?

I knew a couple of them already like (Lee) Betts and Ben (Partridge). They're all good lads and we have a good craic.

Finally, are you looking forward to next season and how well do you think we will do?

Hopefully we can push on next season and finish in the top half of table.
