For the second week in a row, Ollerton and Armthorpe played out a draw

For the second successive week, Ollerton Town and Armthorpe Welfare had to make do with a point apiece with nothing separating the two teams once again.
Last Saturday Ollerton had travelled to Doncaster and played out a 1-1 draw after spending the last half hour with ten men. This week, the Town found themselves 2-0 up inside the opening fifteen minutes but then ultimately failed to take control of proceedings as Armthorpe fought back to level.
Ollerton's opening goal arrived in the fifth minute with the game's first attack. Gav King found space on the right of the area and the NCEL Division One top goal scorer drilled a low shot across goal and into the bottom corner for his 29th of the season, matching last season's tally with plenty of games to spare.
Ten minutes later and the home side were two ahead. The Armthorpe defence made a mess of clearing their lines with an attempted clearance deflecting up and out to defender Liam Cooper 20 yards from goal and he hit a first-time volley that found the top corner for a rare goal.
Armthorpe looked shell-shocked but as the half wore on they began to grow into the game and in the 33rd minute they got a goal back. Luke Williams was given too much room inside the area and he was able to lift the ball over 'keeper Simon Haynes.
That goal set things up nicely going into the second half and 11 minutes after the restart, Armthorpe survived a big scare. Visiting 'keeper Alfie Stevens-Neale failed to deal with a pass back to him and King was able to take advantage, robbing him of the ball but the Ollerton forward snatched at his effort and Stevens-Neale was able to recover.
A few minutes later, Armthorpe were level. Striker Liam Radford was brought down just inside the Ollerton area and the experienced forward stepped up to send Haynes the wrong way from the spot.
Just after the hour mark, Ollerton almost retook the lead in fortuitous circumstances. Tom Moody surged forward down the right flank and his attempted cross into the area had the beating of Stevens-Neale but unfortunately cannoned back off the bar.
Former Ollerton midfielder Josh Dodd has scored against his former side last week and he was hoping to do the same on Saturday but his long-ranged effort flew wide of the upright.
With five minutes remaining, Ollerton were presented with a decent opportunity to win it after a free kick was awarded following a foul on Ben Bowring however King's effort lacked the power or direction to seriously test Stevens-Neale.
On the day a draw was a fair result between two sides who are locked on the same points in the league table. As had been the case the week before, neither side had the extra quality to go on and claim all three points though Armthorpe would probably be the happier of the two having gone 2-0 down so early on.
