The ladies second league fixture of the season saw them face a well drilled Calverton side in a competitive top division clash.
The game started at a quick pace, with Calverton looking to dominate possession and play through the thirds to get the ball into the Ollerton box. The Ollerton defence matched them early on, with Abi Needham and Paige Batey as a centre back pairing, ensuring that shots on target by the opposition were kept to a minimum. A couple of shots in the first half from Calverton kept goalkeeper Rebecca Baker in action, who made a good save around the 20 minute mark, which clearly left her in some discomfort. Moments later, Stacey Lebeter made a goal line clearance to keep the score level leading into half time and Calverton goal less and frustrated.
A strong start to the second half for Ollerton saw plenty more attacking threat. With Captain Jazmin Heath linking up well with Nicole Parsons out wide and Paige Haywood upfront. A much more even second half and Ollerton looking strong, a ball played through the middle set Haywood off with the ball at her feet, running into the box shrugging off a defender to neatly slot it past the keeper, giving Ollerton the lead and looking like the only goal of the game. With 15 minutes left, Calverton picked up the pace and started becoming more of an attacking threat. Baker caught a little flat footed as the ball was played through to a Calverton striker saw them even up the game. Another goal 5 minutes later despite pressure from Ollerton saw them take the lead and the win.
A strong display of football from Ollerton and a result which could have gone either way.
