Ollerton Town won the East Midlands Regional Football League Division One North on Sunday afternoon

Ollerton Town Ladies ended a memorable season in style on Sunday as they secured the East Midlands Regional Football League Division One North title after a 2-0 victory over Draycott Victoria.
Going into the final game of the season Ollerton knew that if they won, Calverton MW would need to take maximum points from their remaining games to finish level on points but thankfully Calverton could only draw 2-2 with Sleaford, meaning the title is headed to Walesby Lane.
The game itself was a frustrating occasion as Draycott, not being able to field a full eleven players, just sat back and tried to ground out a draw. Ollerton found it tough to break down this resolute defence but were thankfully presented with a perfect opportunity late into the first half. Rachael Murray was fouled inside the area and when the referee pointed to the spot, Nat Gibson stepped up to fire home with aplomb.
It took until the 85th minute before Ollerton scored again, despite a host of good chances. A cross into the area dropped kindly for Rachael Murray and after being one of Ollerton's star performers in the game, she got the goal she deserved, emphatically finding the bottom corner.
It was a strange end to the game as when the referee blew his final whistle, Ollerton didn't know the Calverton score but they finally found out the good news that they had secured their second league title in the three years they have been together.
The league title is the least the side deserve as they have only lost one game all season and swept aside most of those they've faced. Rachael Bell and Nat Gibson will grab the headlines, scoring 16 and 15 this season respectively, but that would be doing a disservice to the rest of the team who have been outstanding as well.
Ollerton Town Ladies continue to be a credit to the club, not only with their success on the field but also with all the charity work they do in the local community for organisations such as Pathfinders Care.
Everyone at Ollerton Town would like to congratulate the team on their success and we hope it continues for many years to come.
