Both Brad and Chris join us after taking the step into coaching following long and successful careers. Whilst this represents their first managerial opportunity at Senior level, the club believe that they possess the necessary attributes to take the team forward. Both the club, and Brad and Chris, are committed to what we hope will be a long and fruitful working relationship.
Chris, or Baughy, played at Ollerton from an early age. A strong and lighting fast full back, Baughy was a fan favourite during his playing days. He was a crucial part of the team which won the Central Midlands Premier Division and reached the Notts Senior Cup final back in 2008, during one of the club’s most successful periods. Having left Ollerton, Chris went onto enjoy further success at both Retford United and Staveley Miners Welfare.
Brad joined the club as a teenager and enjoyed some of the formative years of his career as a pacey winger in the red and black of Ollerton. Since then, he has gone on to have a hugely successful career in Non-League as a prolific centre forward for clubs such as Carlton Town, Frickley Athletic, Gainsborough Trinity and Lincoln United. However, after moving towards coaching in the twilight of his career, Brad now makes the leap from pitch to dug out for his local club.
Following the appointment of our new management team, club Chairman Liam Kent said;
“I am delighted to welcome Brad and Chris back to the football club. If you could go back 17 years and tell the three of us then that we’d be in our respective positions now, I am not sure any of us would believe you.
From very early on in the recruitment process, we were extremely interested in the potential of bringing Brad and Chris in. Having met with them, their passion and hunger for this project was overwhelming and, in the end, they were the panel’s unanimous choice.
Whilst more experienced managerial candidates were available, as a club we were excited to give an opportunity to two local lads who very clearly feel strongly about the club and are ambitious about where they want to take it over the next few years.
With some exciting young talent coming through our junior teams, I am confident that we have got two managers who know the qualities we want to instil in teams, and who will provide a fun, professional environment for these young players to break into.”
Over the next few weeks, the club shall be making announcements on further additions to the coaching team.
A full pre-season fixture list shall also be published in due course.
But for now, we welcome both Brad and Chris back to the club and wish them all the best in this new adventure!
