Ollerton Town first team coach Jordan Wildey expressed his delight on Saturday after watching his side defeat local rivals Shirebrook Town 2-1 to claim a big three points.
Two Ollerton goals in five minutes saw them storm into a second half lead, Sam Stretton converting from the spot before Ashley Shannon notched. Kieran Watson scored a last minute penalty for Shirebrook which dampened proceedings slightly but Ollerton held on for their third successive, 2-1 victory over the Derbyshire side.
Whilst Wildey was pleased with Ollerton’s performance, he was critical of the refereeing display:
“I’m very pleased, it’s always good to win a local derby, definitely. To be honest I felt we deserved it and I’m gutted we haven’t got the clean sheet.
“I think [the penalty decision} was a horrendous decision at the end of the game. Thankfully it’s not cost us like it has done in previous weeks but you know all round the performance was really good.
“[There’s] still some bits to work on but no, definitely deserved the win today. Like I said, just really gutted not to get a clean sheet.”
Ashley Shannon scored Ollerton’s second with a cool finish and Wildey was pleased to see the former Retford United youngster score his third goal in his last six games:
“To be fair it’s all his hard work in training, he’s always at every training session, always puts in the effort.
“I know a few weeks ago he was wanting to leave because he wasn’t getting game time and to be fair he’s deserved it a lot because he’s always putting in the effort when he’s on the pitch, in training and I’m really pleased for him.”
Another Ollerton player who impressed was Jordan Buckham who was making his first start since moving from Rossington Main. Wildey was influential in bringing Buckham to The Lane and he had only positive words to say about the young defender:
“[It was a] very good performance. I think both goals came from his side, I’m sure he sent the ball forward for both goals which caused them a bit of danger so I don’t think you can get more pleasing than that.
“Obviously he was part of the back five or six, it would have been nice for him to get a clean sheet but no, I think he did a really good job.”
