Cooky's Summer Update Part 2

Cooky's Summer Update Part 2

Liam Kent5 Aug - 07:41

Part Two of our Pre-Season Update with Manager Lee Cook

I am writing these notes on the eve of our final friendly game before we kick off the season at home on Tuesday v Glapwell.

I'm not a fan of managers talking up their team's chances before a ball has been kicked but I feel our recruitment this year couldn't have gone any better. We have strengthened in all departments and could easily field two very competitive teams.

The challenge for the management team now is to find the best partnerships from front to back and to try and keep the squad happy. Only 11 can play after all! It's time for the players to do their talking on the pitch and fight it out for their shirts.

New signings that have come in and shone early on are Jack Noble and Keegan Burton. Jack was a little bit of a surprise, coming to us when we didn't have a fit centre back in the team. He's showed maturity beyond his years and looks like a cracking addition for this year. Keegan Burton is another who has certainly found his shooting boots pre-season. After a long period recovering from a bad injury we are pleased he's enjoying his football again. We are lucky to have a player of his ability at this level. He has scored a couple of tasty free kicks, a header and some classy one touch finishes to show his quality in front of goal and we are hoping this can continue into the league games.

One final mention for Jack Worrall. A youngster who comes to us from our connection with Chesterfield Community. Jack ran us ragged when we played against them in pre season. He's now had 2 appearances in an Ollerton shirt and we think he could have a really good season if his performance levels can be maintained.

Finally I hope we can see more spectators down at The BuckleyBrown Stadium this year as we continue to improve as a club on and off the pitch .

The season starts now. We're as ready as we'll ever be and your support this year, as always, is much appreciated.
