Ollerton Town lost 4-0 on Saturday

Ollerton Town's brilliant start to the season is well and truly over after two successive defeats last week. The first came in midweek, a tough trip to Campion AFC ending in a 4-1 loss before on Saturday they made the trip to Doncaster side Rossington Main. What was already a difficult looking fixture was made even worse by the fact Ollerton Manager Dave Winter was without nine crucial players, forcing him to severely shuffle his pack.
Despite the end result, Ollerton started well and had the better of the early exchanges, Rossington 'keeper Dan Morton had to be at his best to keep out efforts by Ashley Shannon and Sean Dickinson.
Rossington themselves have enjoyed a good start to the campaign and they started growing into proceedings, Andy McCreadie heading over the bar before Danny Bulman saw a goal bound effort blocked following a corner for the home side.
It was to be Rossington who scored first to put them ahead at the break. Declan Howe was played through and despite a poor first touch, he still managed to squirm the ball under Ollerton 'keeper Ryan Brooks and into the back of the net.
There was still chances for both sides before the interval. Will Wraith hit a rasping drive from range which Brooks did well to hold before Ollerton's Chris Hewitt fired a shot across the face of goal and just wide of the upright.
Ollerton had lost George Pearce to injury late in the first half, meaning they only had one recognised defender in their back four and this makeshift defence was exposed once again just after the hour mark. A ball over the top was met by Jason Stokes and he had the composure to score, lifting the ball over Brooks.
Things continued to go from bad to worse for Ollerton as they were reduced to ten men. Brooks failed to bring a back pass properly under control and he tripped the pressuring Rossington attacker, with the referee pointing to the spot and showing Brooks a straight red. Winger Kyle Clarkson took up goalscoring responsibilities for Ollerton but was unable to keep out the penalty, Declan Howe sending Clarkson the wrong way for his second.
Clarkson did make a brilliant save from McCreadie later in the game but was beaten again with two minutes to go, Callum Wiffen's cross-cum-shot from range looped over Clarkson and into the far corner for Rossington's fourth.
A four goal difference isn't a true reflection of the quality of the two sides and Ollerton will be disappointed in the soft manner of all four Rossington goals. All in all a bad day at the office for The Town who will look to get back to winning ways soon as they look to stay at the right end of the table.
