Ollerton bounced back in emphatic style to claim their first win of 2017!

What a difference a week makes. After losing 9-0 last week, Ollerton Town were on Cloud Nine this time around after a 6-2 win over Brigg Town saw them bounce back in style to claim their first win of 2017.
Everyone at the club knew that last week's result was an anomaly but it was up to the players to prove that and they did so by producing a strong performance, especially in the second half to defeat a tough Brigg Town side.
It was an evenly contested opening to the game with both sides trying to set the early pace but Ollerton had the game's first real chance on fifteen minutes when Kyle Ludlow was put through on goal but could only lift his shot over the bar.
He made no mistake a minute later however. Once again he was put through but this time he rounded the Dan Waring in the Brigg goal and slotted into the empty net to put Ollerton one up.
They could have made it two but Lewis Bingham saw his effort denied after being slipped through by Dockwray but Ollerton then dropped off and let their visitors back in the game, which lead to Brigg drawing level on twenty-three minutes. Oscar Marsden found space on the edge of the area and he fired a low shot past Scott Gretton.
Brigg probably had the better of the next ten minutes but Ollerton soon steadied the ship and unlocked the Brigg defence once again to retake the lead. Greg Tobin hit a defence-splitting pass for Bingham to run on to, he saw his chipped effort hit the bar but thankfully Ludlow was on hand to head in his second.
Ollerton were to go into the break ahead but not before a moment of controversy. Scott Gretton spilt a hopeful ball into the area and he had to scamper back to claw the ball away. Brigg were adamant that the whole of the ball had crossed the line but the officials waved away the protests.
With Ollerton's lead only being by one, the next goal was always going to be crucial and thankfully for Ollerton it was they who got it, four minutes into the second half. Ludlow closed down a Brigg defender and his deflected clearance fell into the path of Matthew Thompson who took a touch before finding the bottom corner.
That looked to have put Ollerton into a somewhat comfortable position but that soon changed when Brigg got a goal back just after the hour. A cross to the far post was deflected into the path of Max Batty who made no mistake from close range.
Brigg had the wind in their sails following the goal and were putting Ollerton under some strong pressure but Dave Winter's side held firm and went on to score three more in the final fifteen minutes.
The first of those three secured Kyle Ludlow's hat-trick as he was on hand to turn the ball home after Bingham saw his shot parried away.
Brigg then saw Jake Thompson sent off on for two yellow cards after he hauled down Bingham and Ollerton made the extra man count, scoring two minutes later. Ludlow's shot wasn't held by Waring who could only tip the ball into the path of Matthew Thompson who got his second from close range.
The same pattern of play occurred for Ollerton's sixth. This time it was Thompson who saw his shot parried by Waring and this time it Lewis Bingham who was there to fire in a deserved goal.
Before the final whistle, there was still time for Ollerton's Josh Brentnall to be shown a red card for an off-the-ball altercation but that was only a small blight on what was a very good day for Ollerton.
