Ollerton threw away a 2-0 lead on Saturday away to Eccleshill United

Ollerton Town's wait for their first league points of the season continues after Eccleshill scored four second half goals to seal a 4-2 win on Saturday.
The match was a proverbial game of two halves. Ollerton dominated in the opening period, went 2-0 up thanks to Callam Atkinson and Lewis Bingham, and easily could've scored two or three more. Eccleshill looked a completely different team in the second half and with Ollerton lacking options on the bench to stem the tide, the home side levelled the score before two late goals secured them the three points.
Ollerton took the lead inside the first ten minutes. Lewis Bingham did well on the right wing to send in a cross, which evaded 'keeper Lewis Hindley and found Callam Atkinson a yard out, waiting to head home.
The visiting side continued to look dangerous down the right and it nearly provided a second goal, but nobody was on hand to meet Tom Cooke's fizzed ball across the face of goal.
In the absence of regular strikers, Kyle Ludlow and Danny Wiltshire, Ollerton were forced to ask utility-man Atkinson to play up top and he was causing the Eccleshill defence problems. His flick on sent Josh Bowkett through on goal but his attempted lob was saved by Hindley, in what was a great chance for The Town.
They had another moments later when Atkinson went through on goal, Hindley was equal to his effort and after Bingham did well to win the rebound, he teed up Bowkett whose shot was blocked.
Ollerton's search for a second was proving to be a frustrating one but they finally got their rewards when Sam Stretton took a free-kick quickly and played through Bingham, who caught the Eccleshill defence napping and after rounding Hindley, he slid in his third goal of the season.
Adam Turner had Eccleshill's only real chance of the half but his effort which clipped the outside of the post, was always heading wide of the target.
It was a comfortable performance by Ollerton but the second half was anything but as Eccleshill took control. Turner had their first chance of the half, heading onto the top of the net before they halved the deficit through Marcus Edwards, who fired low across goal from the right of the area.
That goal swung the momentum well and truly in the home side's favour but Ollerton nearly retook their two goal lead, as Cooke delivered a cross from the right which defender Matty Stor turned against his own post with Hindley stranded.
Eccleshill brought on Luke Harrop in the second half and Ollerton may have been wondering why he wasn't on from the start as he started to influence proceedings. In fact it was Harrop who scored the equaliser, hitting a well-struck effort past Smith from the left side of the area.
Ollerton have been victim to several late goals already this season, conceding a 92nd minute winner v Grimsby on the opening day before a 90th minute equaliser and 120th minute winner saw them lose out to Harrogate in the cup during mid-week. There was to be more late heartbreak on Saturday, though to be fair an Eccleshill winner always looked inevitable. Anil Singh had only been on the pitch ten minutes when he picked up the ball inside the area and found the bottom corner to make it 3-2 and spark wild celebrations from the Eccleshill players.
With the game in it's dying embers, Ollerton pushed centre back Brandon Shaw upfront in a last ditch attempt to salvage something from the game and in the last minute of added time, Eccleshill hit Ollerton on the counter-attack to make it 4-2, Alex Cusack going through and smashing the ball into the net.
That win saw Eccleshill keep up their 100% record in the league and go top of the table. Ollerton however are left frustrated after a poor start to life in the NCEL. The first half performance on Saturday was excellent but they just tired in the second period and Eccleshill took full advantage. Everyone at the club believes the points will come soon rather than later and focus now turns to Saturday's home game v Dronfield Town.
