Ollerton win 12-0 in first of two games against Welbeck in four days

Ollerton Town stormed to a 12-0 victory over Welbeck Welfare on Saturday as they avoided a potential banana skin in what were very difficult conditions.
With Welbeck languishing at the bottom of the Central Midlands North Division, Ollerton were always expected to win comfortably and goals by Sam Stretton and Callam Atkinson in the first ten minutes put them on the path to doing so. To be fair to Welbeck, they fought hard and nearly got a goal or two back but a Lewis Bingham goal just before half time sealed the victory. Nine more goals were to follow in the second half with seven of those coming in the final twenty minutes.
Ollerton started on the front foot and only had to wait five minutes for their first goal. Lewis Bingham did well on the left wing and cut the ball back to Sam Stretton who slotted the ball into the corner for his goal for the club.
Four minutes later and it was 2-0. Callam Atkinson received the ball at the edge of the area and scooped a shot into the top corner past Welbeck ‘keeper, Andrew Sipson.
Despite a comfortable start, Ollerton suffered some scares during the first half as Welbeck forward, Robbie Savage, was denied first by the post and then twice by Ollerton ‘keeper Simon Haynes, after going through one-on-one.
After keeping Welbeck at bay, Ollerton struck again just before half time. Lewis Bingham jinked his way past Welbeck’s right back before clipping the ball into the corner of the goal with a delightful finish.
Ollerton made three changes at half time, bringing on Cameron Mitchell, Jordan O’Callaghan and new signing Sam Dockwray and it was O’Callaghan who scored Ollerton’s fourth within seconds of the restart. Sipson punched a corner to the edge of the area and O’Callaghan was on hand to loft the ball back over him and into the net.
Shortly afterwards, Kyle Clarkson got involved in the scoring as he fired the ball into the roof of the net after it fell kindly to him in the area.
As the game wore on, Welbeck start to tire and this allowed Ollerton to add even more goals to their tally. On seventy minutes Kyle Ludlow made it 6-0, beating Sipson to a corner to thump a header into the net.
Five of the twelve goals Kyle Clarkson had scored before Saturday’s game were free kicks, and he added another to his tally to make it 7-0, curling the ball into the corner past a helpless Sipson.
Lewis Bingham secured his hat-trick with goals in the 75th and 84th minutes and both occasions he turned the ball in from close range to put Ollerton 9-0 ahead.
Kyle Ludlow followed suit and also grabbed his hat-trick to make it 11-0. The first was a tap-in from only a yard or two out after the ball bobbled through to him whilst the second was a nice finish through the legs of Sipson after being played through by Dockwray.
The final goal came with the last attack of the game and after being provider, Dockwray got himself a goal with a powerful effort from the edge of the area.
The 12-0 victory matches Ollerton’s previous biggest win, a 12-0 triumph over Yorkshire Main back in 2012. With Welbeck to follow again on Tuesday night, Ollerton will have to put this game to the back of their mind to avoid any complacency setting in.
