Ollerton come from 3-0 down at half time to defeat Newark Flowserve

Ollerton Town were forced to produce an impressive comeback after a poor first half performance saw them 3-0 down at the break against Newark Flowserve.
After three promising performances in friendlies against Harworth Colliery, Rainworth MW and Staveley MW, Ollerton failed to reach anywhere near those standards in the opening half hour and were 3-0 down and looking down the barrel of a poor result in their penultimate pre-season friendly. However, goals by Lewis Bingham, Ashley Shannon, Gavin King and a last minute freekick by Grant Tobin saw Ollerton secure the win ahead of Tuesday's test versus Collingham.
Newark Flowserve started the game the much brighter and flew at Ollerton in the opening stages. They got their reward twelve minutes in thanks to a stunning strike by Marlon Grundy from the right of the area which swerved across goal, into the top corner.
Five minutes later and Flowserve doubled their lead. A low cross from the right found Daryl Price a few yards out waiting to tap home to put his side in a commanding position.
Ollerton nearly got a goal back through Kyle Ludlow, his brilliant overhead kick flying just wide of the goal but it was Flowserve who scored next to go 3-0 up. Former Ollerton player Tristan Burrell had space on the right wing and he whipped in a terrific ball towards Price who turned in his second goal of the game.
Ollerton were shell shocked but the pace in which Flowserve attacked the opening stages of the game seemed to have an effect on them as they took their foot off the gas in the latter stages of the first half and Ollerton could have scored. Gavin King had the better of the chances, he first saw a shot cleared off the line before striking the base of the post minutes later.
The second half saw a slight change of system by Ollerton and they made three half time substitutions which seemed to make a difference as they scored next to reduce the deficit. A corner in dropped kindly for Lewis Bingham and he bounced the ball into the back of the net from six yards out.
The game had only been restarted a few moments when Ollerton scored again to make it 3-2. A miskick by the Flowserve keeper landed at the feet of Ashley Shannon and his first time effort flew into the roof of the net.
Momentum was now well and truly with Dave Winter's side and after a quick reshuffle in personnel, The Town drew level. Kyle Ludlow was moved from striker to centre half with Gavin King moving up top and the two combined. Ludlow's thumping header beat the Flowserve defence, putting King through and he made no mistake, rolling the ball into the bottom corner.
It looked as if the shares would be spoiled as the game reached its dying embers but in the final moments of the game, Ollerton got a winner. They were awarded a freekick 30 yards out and Grant Tobin stepped up to curl the ball into the top corner with a fantastic set piece to give Ollerton the victory.
It nearly wasn't to be however as in the last attack of the game, a Flowserve attacker attempted to lob Ollerton 'keeper Ben Woodcock but the 16 year old managed to pull off a world class save, reaching back to tip the ball onto the bar before it bounced down to safety.
