The Town held their higher-league opponents to a 2-2 draw on Friday night

Ollerton Town continued their pre-season preparation on Friday with a 2-2 draw against NCEL Premier Division side, Rainworth MW. Though Rainworth ply their trade in the league above Ollerton, the gap in quality wasn't evident on Friday's showing and a draw was the least Dave Winter's side deserved.
The majority of the action came in two short periods in either half. Rainworth took the lead a few minutes in, Julian Lawrence heading in a Max Pemberton freekick but Ollerton defied the early set back and equalised soon after, Chris Hewitt with a stunning strike from the right wing easily beating Ben Townsend in the Rainworth goal.
Ollerton were having the better of the ball and putting some lovely passing moves together whilst at the other end, easily dealing with what little Rainworth were offering.
New Rainworth Manager, Craig Denton, made several substitutes during the second half, bringing on former Ollerton Town player James Munson and it was the Wren's who scored next to retake the lead on fifty five minutes. George Pearce gave a freekick away on the edge of the area and Julian Lawrence stepped up to fire home his second with an impressive strike.
Once again though it didn't take long for Ollerton to hit back. Kyle Ludlow was slipped through on the left of the area and he kept up his good pre-season form, rounding Townsend and slotting into the empty net.
Rainworth did strike the woodwork twice late on but a defeat would have been very harsh on Ollerton. With several players missing, The Town gave game time to teenagers Jack Dickens and James Weaver who both impressed and showed that they'll definitely have parts to play in Dave Winter's squad this season.
With more minutes and a positive performance under their belts, Ollerton now move on to Wednesday's friendly at home to Staveley Miners Welfare.

Ollerton Team:
